Elon Musk has been heavily criticising Google over the past week. Since the launch of Google's Gemini image generator, he's shared and replied to more than 100 posts about the company. Sharing a screenshot of one of Krawczyk's posts, Musk wrote : "This nut is a big part of why Google's AI is so racist & sexist." To give Musk some credit, Google's AI also appeared to be hard on him personally. After taking a similar issue with OpenAI's ChatGPT, Musk founded his own AI company and released Grok, a competing chatbot.

Amid widespread discontent over President Joe Biden’s management of the border, the overall electorate is moving rightward on immigration too, polls show. For now, there’s no question that hardening GOP attitudes on immigration have been critical to Trump’s strong performance through the early primaries. Then, 56% of GOP primary voters said undocumented immigrants should be offered legal status; in last month’s primary, 55% said they should be deported. Immigration ranked as the most important issue for most GOP primary voters in South Carolina, and finished close behind the economy in both Iowa and New Hampshire. McLaughlin said Trump’s dominance among the GOP primary voters most concerned about immigration encapsulates a broader reason for his early success: widespread satisfaction among Republicans about his record in office.

MUNICH (AP) — Long regarded as a celebration of the U.S.-led post-World War II international order, the Munich Security Conference this year will be more of a reflection of America’s political turmoil. And overshadowing it all will be Trump’s threat to not automatically come to the defense of European allies should they be attacked by Russia. That is a cornerstone of NATO’s founding treaty, which has taken on additional significance since Russia’s full-scale attack on Ukraine in 2022. Blinken, too, will be conveying that message in Munich, according to the top U.S. diplomat for Europe, James O’Brien. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz assailed Trump’s comments.

"Why is Vladimir Putin such a bad guy? He's not Saddam Hussein, he's not Adolf Hitler, he's not a danger to the United States," Carlson said in 2017. He is a dangerous authoritarian who has used a hundred billion in U.S. tax dollars to erect a one-party police state in Ukraine," Carlson said in 2022. This weekend, the hottest ticket in New York is a seven-hour-plus movie about Adolf Hitler. Showing just once at Film at Lincoln Center, Hans-Jürgen Syberberg’s rarely screened epic, “Hitler, a Film From Germany,” is, according to the programmers, sold out despite its behemoth running time (which includes a few breaks). “There is Syberberg’s film — and then there are the other films one admires,” she wrote. Divided in four parts, the film is a Wagnerian opera on acid, composed of theatrical sketches inspired by the German dictator’s life. Syberberg wasn’t without a sense of humor, either: In one scene, steam pours out of a sculpture of a rear end.

Following his payment from X, MrBeast said in a post on the platform that he planned to give away the money he earned to “10 random people that repost this and follow me” on X. Opinion: Our possibly short national nightmare

“My fellow Americans, our long national nightmare is over,” President Gerald Ford said. “Our campaign is the last best hope of stopping the Trump-Biden nightmare,” the former UN ambassador said. If not, it won’t be as protracted a “national nightmare” as the two-year-long Watergate scandal that put Gerald Ford in the Oval Office. Though, depending on your point of view, the real nightmare could begin after the swearing-in. Yet, John Avlon wrote, Trump and some members of the House GOP, want to tank an emerging compromise in the Senate that would couple border security measures with aid to Ukraine.

But today, Germany is staring at a surging far right – and the country’s mainstream politicians and democratic citizens, still by far the lion’s share of the population, are understandably rattled. Since then it has veered steadily to the far right, where its members tout barely veiled racism and Islamophobia. But studies show that time and again the accommodation of radical right positions benefits the hard right – and not its imitators. Moreover, democrats of all stripes should expose the far right’s populist arguments for what they are: exaggerations, falsehoods and demagoguery. Germany’s ascendent far right shows that all of Europe – and beyond, including the US – could be at a tipping point.

The Iowa caucuses, which are the opening contest in the months-long Republican presidential primary process, begin at 8 p.m. EST. Trump's political strength heading into the Iowa caucuses, which come 426 days after he launched his 2024 campaign, tells a remarkable story of a Republican Party unwilling or unable to move on from him. On the eve of the caucuses, Trump predicted he would set a modern-day record for an Iowa Republican caucus with a margin-of-victory exceeding the nearly 13 percentage points that Bob Dole earned in 1988. Last month, some presidential campaigns were expecting close to 200,000 Republican voters to participate in the caucus. To try to understand his enduring appeal, Reuters spoke to five Trump supporters in five general election battleground states: Nevada, Georgia, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. Trump currently leads Democratic President Joe Biden in several swing state general election polls, suggesting he will be highly competitive in a likely re-match next November. None are full-blown "election deniers" backing Trump's false claims that he, and not Biden, won the 2020 election. The second issue that swung Ruiz back behind Trump was the multiple criminal charges against him. Johnson likes Trump's tough stance on migration, and believes Trump will slow the crossings and deport as many migrants as feasibly possible.

In addition to the records, the House Democrats asked Yaccarino and Musk to detail how X plans to address Hamas-related content currently on the platform. The already "inexcusable" issue of antisemitic content on X, they wrote, had become "outright indefensible" since the deadly Oct. 7 terror attack in Israel by Hamas militants. More than two dozen House Democrats on Tuesday accused Elon Musk 's X of "profiting off violent content by a terrorist organization" and demanded that he and CEO Linda Yaccarino address Hamas -related content on the social media platform . "You have said the actual truth," Musk wrote last Wednesday in response to that post. In the letter to Musk and X chief executive Linda Yaccarino, the lawmakers noted reports from nonprofit organizations that showed people with X Premium accounts "glorifying barbaric acts of violence against Israelis." The letter is the latest fight between Musk, who bought Twitter and renamed it X, and those who have advocated for better content moderation. The lawmakers said X profited from the posts both from subscription fees as well as ads displayed in replies to both Premium and regular posts.
